Does Your Property Manager Have Your Back?

by | Nov 21, 2013 | Property Management

If you own a residential building in Queens, you probably have a property manager on hand who takes care of the day-to-day happenings of your property. The big question is does your property manager have your back?  Are you sure they are really looking out for you, your property, and your tenants? You see, there are certain things a property manager in Queens should be doing in order to make sure you are getting the most out of your rental property. If they are not doing these things, it may be time to find a new one.

A Property Manager Should Know the Area

If you are working with a property manager in Queens, they should definitely know the area where your rental is located. There are a lot of areas of Queens and many neighborhoods all with a unique feel to them. Your property manager should know the ins and outs of the area, no matter if your property is in Astoria, Howard Beach, or anywhere else in Queen. The right manager should know things like the rental rates per square foot, the amenities renters in the area are looking for, and the rates similar properties are charging their tenants. This way, you will remain competitive.

A Property Manager Should Have Excellent Customer Service Skills

Does your current property manager have excellent customer service and communication skills? They definitely should if you are going to get the most out of your rental property. Remember, the rental manager will be the link between your tenants and yourself. This means they must be the ones to ensure tenants are happy. If your tenants are not happy, they will leave, and this will cost you money. If you have noticed a lot of turnaround with your tenants, it may be due to your property manager.

A Property Manager Should Be Trustworthy

Do you trust your property manager? If you do not, you should not be working with them. Part of the job of most property managers is to take care of the finances when it comes to your property, and if you cannot trust them as a person, how can you trust them with your finances?  The truth is you can’t. This is why it is imperative you have a property manager who has your back.
