If you’re considering moving into student apartments near DePaul University, then you may have some questions on how things work. Keep reading to learn some of the basic ins and outs of off-campus student housing.
Rental Contracts
Renters have the choice of signing per-person or per-apartment contracts. With per-person contracts, each roommate in an apartment signs their own individual rental contract, which makes each person responsible only for their individual payment.
Roommates
Students can choose their roommates themselves. They can also leave it up to the apartment complex to decide. If you choose the latter, then you’ll fill out a lifestyle questionnaire that’ll help the management match you to appropriate roommates.
Included Amenities and Services
Depending on the apartment complex, you’ll have certain amenities included in your rent. At Ion Lincoln Park, you pay a $99 utility/amenity fee that covers internet, water, sewer, electricity, trash, and the many amenities around the complex.
Safety and Security
You’ll be protected by fire alarms and sprinklers as well as electronic locks on your front door. Bedroom doors have their own individual locks. There are also periodic community patrols, and management is available 24 hours a day.
Parking
At Ion Lincoln Park, parking is available in an attached garage on a first-come-first-serve basis. There is an additional charge for parking.
Furnishings
Student apartments come with all the furnishings necessary for you to move right in and start living. They include beds, individual desks and chairs, a couch, coffee table, entertainment stand, and appliances.
